About Germany
In Germany, the majority of colleges and universities receive funding from the federal government, and some are additionally supported by the Protestant or Catholic Church. Additionally, there are around 100 private universities that grant officially recognized degrees at subsidized tuition rates or fees. Many of these private institutions specialize in applied sciences, making them a popular choice for students pursuing degrees in science.
The vast majority of students in Germany opt for public universities, with only a small percentage enrolling in private institutions. While private universities do provide education at a higher cost, the quality of education offered by both private and government-funded universities remains excellent.
